The main cause of Carpal Tunnel is swelling and scar tissue where the median nerve passes through the carpal tunnel in the wrist. Repetitive motion is the leading cause of scar tissue and swelling, and hence the main cause of CTS. Less frequent causes include local trauma, tumors, and hormonal changes.
